High Impact Protection

HIP (High Impact Protection), formerly known as H2Poxy-A, is a 100% solids, hydrophobic, epoxy-based product. It exhibits exceptionally high resistance to hammering, hot tires, torque forces, and chemical spills. It is well suited for application on green concrete, cured concrete, and even wet metal, all while maintaining full protection effectiveness.

Description

HIP is a hydrophobic, above-the-water-line epoxy product that features extreme adhesion and durability. HIP retains zero water when left submerged in saltwater for up to 12 days. HIP will not react to mist, humidity, rain, or water spills even during the curing process.

While typical epoxies exhibit a loss of mass of 25 to 35 mg after 1000 cycles, HIP tested at only a 3 mg loss of mass after the same tests. HIP has passed hot-tire tests and can be used for hydro-static pressure. Effective as a floor coating, it is suitable for marine and heavy industry applications.

HIP can be successfully applied to wet concrete and wet metals. It will disperse water and firmly attach to the substrate. It can withstand damp fog, rain, and accidental water spills on the product even before fully cured. HIP is a 100% solids product and is green-certified as it contains 0 VOCs.

Made with natural, renewable raw materials, HIP comes in a power-packed comprehensive green product format. It also protects against a wide range of industrial chemicals.

Basic Usage

HIP is a 100% solids product making it ideal for a variety of applications where moisture is a concern. It is also resistant to a wide range of industrial chemicals. Adhesion strength is excellent, with averages of 800 PSI/5.51 MPa on non-profiled metal. Under a 1,000 cycle taber abrasion test, samples coated with HIP lost only 0.3-0.5 mg of mass. HIP is also effective as a floor coating and suitable for marine and heavy industry applications.

Maxon Technologies HIP can be used as a stand-alone solution, or as a part of a more comprehensive solution utilizing other Maxon Technologies' products. Additionally, HIP may also be used as a top-coat for other coating systems.

The 100% solids HIP product offers rapid drying time. The treated surface can be walked on in a matter of hours. 

Waterproofing Ability

HIP’s exceptional adhesion and bonding qualities provide a barrier to water penetration. After curing HIP retains zero water, even when left submerged in saltwater.  HIP’s robust bonding qualities also act as a barrier for oil and chemical spillage. 

Non-Toxic and Close-to-Zero VOC

HIP is a water-based product that is solvent-free. It’s eco-friendly, non-toxic and extremely close-to-zero VOC level make it ideal for application in confined spaces, public areas, and the food industry. Its non-toxic.

Non-Flammable and Non-Hazardous

Unlike most competing products, which are carbon-based, HIP’s water-based composition makes it non-flammable and non-hazardous. Without compromising its protective qualities HIP offers a dramatic reduction against fire and health hazards.  

Heat/Cold Cycles

As a substrate expands and contracts with heat/cold temperature cycles, the HIP coating, bonded to the substrates, will stretch and contract accordingly. This ensures long-term durable protection.

Green Product

HIP is a fully green product made from renewable plant-based sources and is solvent-free.

Tensile and Shear strength

HIP has excellent shear strength making it resistant to outside forces attempting to cause internal structural sliding movement. Additionally, it offers exceptional tensile strength which prevents material breaking as a result of stretching and pulling.
