Metal Corrosion Neutralizer

MCN is a premium rust inhibitor designed to offer long-term durability. Its advanced formulation hermetically seals metal rebars from intruding moisture and oxygen, thus preventing rust formation.  Sandblasting the metal surface is NOT required as a preparation step before applying MCN.

MCN is usually covered with one of Maxon's high-impact protection products, ensuring long-term protection of the steel asset.

MCN (Metal Corrosion Neutralizer), formerly CRS, provides unparalleled corrosion protection by blocking oxygen and chlorides from reaching the metal surface it shields.

Unlike traditional methods, MCN does NOT require sandblasting the metal surface in preparation for application; Standard water pressure cleaning is sufficient. MCN bonds exceptionally well to hardened rust creating a robust blocking layer against oxidation, moisture, and chlorides.

  • Cost is reduced by 60%-90%  as a result of eliminating the need for sandblasting, and ease of application

  • MCN is eco-friendly, with a VOC level close to zero. It is non-toxic and fire-resistant.

MCN is produced in the USA.

Description

After removing soft and flaky rust from corroding metal through power washing, applied MCN creates a strong adhesive bond with the metal sealing it from corroding agents - oxidation and chlorides. MCN may be applied directly on tightly adhered intact rust, which remains after power washing the surface. It penetrates the tightly adhered intact rust and bonds with the metal substrate below.

When properly applied, MCN provides both the application contractor and asset owner with a cost-effective rust inhibitor layer. MCN is environmentally friendly due to it being water-based, extremely low VOC level, and ease of application.

IMPORTANT: Maxon MCN is not a structural or restorative product and should only be used on substrates that are structurally sound.

Typical Usage

MCN is primarily used as a primer coating to protect ferrous materials from further deterioration and loss of mass, through exposure to various naturally occurring phenomena.

  • Concrete encased metal
  • Metal Stairs and Ramps
  • Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI)
  • Corrugated and Metal Roofs
  • Ship Decks
  • Columns - Beams - Bridges
  • Tanks
  • Mines, Infrastructure, Pipe exteriors
